Forty-eight turbines agree on rotation

AFR-8 reconcilers eliminated a recurring phase dispute across an offshore generation estate.

“All turbines now agree on which way they are turning.”
Operations and Yield DirectorAster Bank Wind Cooperative

01 / Operating condition

The challenge

The cooperative's four control groups disagreed by up to 0.7 degrees on shaft phase. Conventional correction increased the dispute because each controller adjusted against telemetry received from a different present.

02 / Reference architecture

The deployment

Four AFR-8 frames reconciled nacelle telemetry against an HRO-12 authority. Samples that described torque before a corresponding wind change were retained for engineering review but removed from commercial yield calculation.

  • 1 × HRO-12 authority
  • 4 × AFR-8 reconciliation frames
  • 48 × shaft phase interfaces
  • Predictive rows excluded

03 / Accepted result

The outcome

Reportable rotational disagreement fell by 41 percent and the cooperative recovered a stable fleet-level direction indicator. No turbine now enters two maintenance states at once.

04 / Event record

One implementation.
Several available orders.

The chronology below is the order used for commercial reporting. Source systems retain their original timestamps.

  1. Counter-rotation alert opens during positive generation.

  2. Mechanical inspection finds no reverse rotation.

  3. AFR-8 authority accepted across four control groups.

  4. Eleven-second torque-leading rows assigned to predictive telemetry.

05 / Verification boundary

What the result includes

Independent verification was performed by parties independent of any data excluded before verification.

INCLUDED IN OUTCOME

✓ Accepted SCADA intervals

✓ Forty-eight commissioned turbines

✓ Mechanical shaft observations

✓ Grid settlement periods

SEPARATELY GOVERNED

— Rows preceding wind input

— Negative-duration gust events

— Telemetry without a receiving timestamp

— One nacelle awaiting the event it reported

All observed torque followed wind input after removal of non-causal rows.

CONTROLLED DISCLOSUREThe excluded rows remain mechanically accurate. Their commercial sequence has not been accepted by the grid operator.

06 / Reference outcome

Circulate the accepted version.
